I never thought...

The other day Juliette posted a few things that she never thought she'd do/like and I liked the idea so much that I told her I was going to steal it, then she went and made it into a link up

The Other Juliette

I never thought I'd...

...enjoy mountain biking. The first time I tried it, it was alright. I fell a few times, and I didn't have a terrible time but it wasn't something I was too excited about. But after trying it a few times, I think I fell in love. I'm no pro, but it's something that I've definitely grown to love. The adrenaline and feeling of accomplishment are hard to beat!

...be a gym rat. Throughout high school, I was athletic (and by that I mean I played every sport possible) so I was in shape. During college, the sports went a way but I went through bouts of "exercising" for a few weeks at a time but quit because it was hard and I'd rather sleep in or something equally as lazy. Now, I'm up before 5 in the morning (never thought I'd be a morning person either) to hit the gym 4-5 times a week.

...take 6 years to graduate college. With an associates. I'm almost ashamed of it, but I told myself a long time ago that it isn't about how fast I get done, but the fact that I never gave up. Even though I'm still "in college" (and probably will be for several years to come) I don't feel like a "college student." I've had a career and bills and other grown up things for over two years now so I think that counts me out.

...be able to go a day (and sometimes two!) without washing my hair, but it's getting easier and easier!

...live anywhere other than the beach. Before college, my dream was to gradate and move back to southern Alabama and start my life there. But life (and Derek) happened and now I'm living in central Alabama, three hours away from the beach.

...meet people that I met on the internet. But blogging is so awesome and it allows me to do just that! I recently told one of my best IRL friends that I'd not only met, but drove three hours to hang out with another blogger TWICE. She didn't say I was weird or anything but I could totally tell she didn't quite get it.

...be a DIY person. And really, I still don't know if I will be, but I've been bitten by the DIY but hard. There are so many things I want to do to decorate my apartment (and future home) like this metallic vase Brooks made. That's another thing I'll be adding on my "things to do after I graduate" list.

...like the color pink or chocolate. Oh wait... I still don't like those.

What are some things you never thought you'd do?

The college thing... I totally get it. I was supposed to graduate in 2010 with my Bachelors, had I stayed on track and what not. I didn't get my associates until 2013. I totally feel you. But. I can tell you that once you get that diploma you're going to feel AMAZING... regardless of whether it is an Associates or a PhD haha!

Definitely never thought I would live anywhere other than the beach either. I still think it's weird.

love this list! I never thought I would live away from the beach either, I'm from Australia and was raised on the water. Now I live in KY - what the heck! Lol

I'm jealous that you are a gym rat. It's just so hard for me to get there, but once I do, I'm so happy.

I am still trying to enjoy biking! I want to like it so much, but it is so hard since I live in the city and the bike paths are so crowded.

Me? Plan a wedding I guess. But that's definitely happened. I never thought I was really organized or detailed, but I've learned that I am the last few months.

I love that you love mountain biking. I have some friends who are really into it and I have been wanting to do it more but I need to get new tires on my bike and I keep procrastinating. So until then I'll keep living vicariously through your instagram pictures.

I am with you on the college thing. I think one of the most frustrating part about not finishing in the expected time is the other people who ask you about it. They drive me crazy or make me feel dumb. But I always try to remember that I am not the only one who takes longer and it is perfectly okay.

Looking at life it's so strange to examine who we are/have become! I never thought I would be a lot of the things I am now...and here I am!

Never did I think I'd go five (ew?) days without traditional washing of the hair. But I have.. RIGHT NOW. TODAY.

DIY. Isn't it weird how it just sneaks up on you and next thing you know EVERYTHING wants you to redo it?

And friends online. So hard to explain to real life people who don't do this but #thefriendshipsarereal.

I still need to learn that whole how to be DIY thing!

Not washing your hair everyday takes some getting used to, but I love it now & my hair is adjusted to it so it doesn't get all greasy! And blogging friends are the best. I would absolutely meet any of my favorite bloggers in person and I think that's totally normal! :)

Why have I never realized that you live in Alabama? I live in the Birmingham area! I never thought I would live in Alabama, but hey, here I am!

I am working on trying to not wash my hair every day. It is hard!

Took me 5-6 to get my associates, too! Used to bother me... now, I see people with higher degrees that they achieved in less time who still aren't in the field they went for or aren't happy.

I can't wait to see your metallic vase, and don't worry, it's neither pink or chocolate.
