I got all of my wedding pictures back over the weekend and ever since, I can't stop staring at them constantly. So I thought I'd share a few of them with you all. Derek and I did decide to do a first look, and although there are good things and bad things about it, the pros won out for us.
-Your hair, makeup, and outfits are fresh
-You can get rid of any pre wedding jitters with just you and your groom
-You have the opportunity for MORE pictures
-You will probably be able to actually enjoy your cocktail hour
-You miss out on the tradition of waiting to see each other
-You will have to be ready earlier - which can possibly mean a rush for time depending on what time the ceremony starts
-Walking down the aisle may seem "anticlimactic"
Our biggest factor in choosing to see each other before the ceremony was time. We knew the sun would be setting soon after we said "I do" and we wanted to be able to take pictures without rushing. In addition, our ceremony and reception was in the exact same location - so there really wasn't a true cocktail hour. We did save a few pictures for after - mainly pictures with extended family since we didn't want to make everyone get there early.
I'm really glad we decided to do the first look - I was very specific in that I didn't want anyone there but me, Derek, and our photographers. I had one of my bridesmaids drop me off at the location then she left. It was nice being able to see Derek for the first time without wondering what anyone else was thinking. It was just the two of us and, per usual, we were able to act as silly as we wanted to get rid of any nerves. Oh, and it most definitely did NOT make walking down the aisle any less special.
So without any further adieu, a few of my favorites:
Did you have a first look at your wedding - or if you're planning one, will you have one?
